Joshua Tree
Joshua-Tree.jpg

Having spent several weeks alone in the Mojave Desert a little less than a year ago, exploring and wandering and becoming closer to that region of America than any other I’ve visited, I cannot understand the destruction that has taken place in Joshua Tree National Park over the last several weeks of the government shutdown here in the United States.

That anyone would feel comfortable chopping down such rare and iconic trees to clear a path for vehicles where there was no road is unconscionable. The way humans sometimes behave when they believe no one will hold them accountable is beyond my ability to comprehend. For now, I am heartbroken for Joshua Tree — but I plan to return to the desert soon to document the aftermath of the darker realities of human nature, as well as the beautiful resilience of the American desert that has taught me so much about life itself.

Saatchi + The Mojave
Mojave No. 1 print for sale through Saatchi

I’m pleased to announce that open edition fine art prints from my series “The Mojave” are now available through Saatchi. They are available framed and unframed, and would make a delightful gift for the holidays or a wonderful addition to your personal photography collection at home or in the office.

Somewhere Outside of Time

As a commercial photographer in Los Angeles, the reality of a contemporary society dominated by social media and a culture of cool is prevalent in my work and life in the city. "Somewhere Outside of Time" is a new, ongoing personal photo series exploring and documenting the Mojave Desert -- a region that seems to exist outside of time, largely untouched by contemporary society, existing only on its own terms.

THE ROSSI PALM SPRINGS

I wrote back in February about my recent shoot for The Rossi Palm Springs, a boutique hotel in the heart of a desert oasis. It's so wonderful to see my photos gracing their beautiful website. If you're ever looking for an amazing place to escape from the world into a weekend (or week!) of luxury, I cannot recommend a better place to do it than The Rossi.

TIME OUT LOS ANGELES

Toward the end of last year, I was hired by Time Out Los Angeles to photograph the interior of La Boucherie, a French-inspired restaurant on the 71st floor of the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Here are a couple of my favorite images from the shoot.
